Push Notifications

Push notifications let you send messages directly to your customers' phones through their loyalty wallet pass. Messages appear on the lock screen and when the customer opens the pass — no separate app install required.

How It Works

Both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet support push notifications for installed passes. When you send a notification from the Loyalty dashboard, it is delivered to every customer who has your card in their wallet.

Compose

Write your message in the dashboard. Keep it short and actionable — a promotion, a reminder, or a thank-you.

Send

Messages are delivered instantly to all enrolled customers. They appear as a lock-screen notification on both iOS and Android.

Pass Update

The notification also updates the pass itself. Customers see the message when they open their loyalty card in the wallet app.

No App Needed

Customers don't need to install any app. Notifications work through the native wallet — Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Best Practices

Push notifications are powerful but should be used thoughtfully. Sending too many messages can lead customers to remove your card from their wallet.

What to Send

Focus on messages that provide real value: double-points promotions, new reward announcements, holiday specials, or reminders for customers who are close to earning a reward.

Frequency

A good cadence is one to two messages per week at most. Every message should give the customer a reason to visit your store.

Avoid over-sending

If you send notifications too frequently, customers may remove your pass from their wallet. There is no way to re-add it without the customer scanning the enrollment QR code again.
